Melissa’s Bees was created to transform fear into curiosity through educational and hands on experiences with bees.

At the age of five, I began tagging along on my dad's bee adventures. I shared my bee knowledge with classmates, and eventually graduated with my own teaching credential. After years in the classroom, I ventured outside and found myself caring for over 100 hives in the Santa Barbara area. It wasn't long until I followed my passion and transitioned from full-time teacher to full-time beekeeper. I continue to educate both indoors and outdoors, fostering deep interests in bees and beekeeping. As a second generation beekeeper, my father and I have a combined 65+ years of experience professionally working alongside bees.

Rooted in the philosophy of natural beekeeping, my focus lies in fostering the vitality of bee colonies and their interconnected ecosystem. Without resorting to chemical interventions, I employ natural methods to enhance bee health, allowing robust colonies to naturally yield surplus products for communal sharing. Being conscious of the bees health also means being conscious and aware of the surrounding environment. After all, bees are a part of nature!

MELISSA’S BEES was established to offer services and assistance to the general public, pollinators, and fellow beekeepers. With a Master's degree in Education from Antioch University, continuing education from the University of California Davis and Cornell University, my emphasis focuses on revealing the marvels of nature while nurturing deep and meaningful personal connections through science based research and real world experience.
